The Standing Committee on Health met at 11:12 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Bonnie Brown, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Bonnie Brown, Raymond Bonin, Jeannot Castonguay, Yvon Charbonneau, Stan Dromisky, James Lunney, Réal Ménard, Rob Merrifield, Hélène Scherrer, Judy Sgro, Judy Wasylycia-Leis.
Acting Member present: Preston Manning for Diane Ablonczy.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Nancy Miller Chenier and Sonya Norris, research officers.
Witnesses: From Dalhousie University, Dalhousie Medical School: Françoise Baylis, Associate Professor, Department of Bioethics. From the University of Alberta, John Dossetor Bioethics Centre: Laura Shanner, Associate Professor, Population Health. From the McGill University, Centre for Medicine, Ethics and Law: Dr. Margaret Somerville, Acting Director.
The Committee resumed consideration of the draft legislation on Assisted Human Reproduction. (See Minutes of Proceedings dated Thursday, May 3, 2001, Meeting No. 13)
The witnesses made statements and answered questions.
At 1:24 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
