The Standing Committee on Finance met at 9:39 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Sue Barnes, Carolyn Bennett, Maurizio Bevilacqua, Roy Cullen, Ken Epp, Albina Guarnieri, Yvan Loubier, Hon. Lorne Nystrom and Gary Pillitteri.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Blayne Haggart and Marc-André Pigeon, Researchers. From Committees and Parliamentary Associations Directorate: Mike MacPherson.
Witnesses: From Canadian Community Reinvestment Coalition: Duff Conacher, Chair. From Insurance Consumers Group: William R. Podmore, President. From National Anti-Poverty Organization: Bruce Tate, Executive Director; Pam Kapoor, Assistant Director. From National Council of Women of Canada: Ruth Brown, Convenor, Health and Welfare; Maria Neil, Convenor of Economics.
The Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-8, An Act to establish the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada and to amend certain Acts in relation to financial institutions (See Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, March 1st, 2001, Meeting No. 2).

Duff Conacher, William Podmore, Pam Kapoor, Maria Neil and Ruth Brown made statements and answered questions.
At 11:16 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
