MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 4

Wednesday, February 23, 2000

The Sub-Committee on Private Members' Business of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met at 4:00 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Larry McCormick, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Deborah Grey, Joe Jordan and Larry McCormick.

Acting Members present: Michelle Dockrill for Bill Blaikie and René Laurin for Madeleine Dalphond-Guiral.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: James Robertson, Research Officer.

Witness: From the House of Commons: Dale Johnston.

The witness made a statement and answered questions.

Pursuant to Standing Orders 133(3) and 140, the Sub-Committee proceeded to the consideration of the First Report of the Examiner of petitions regarding Bill S-14, An Act to amend the Act of incorporation of the Board of Elders of the Canadian District of the Moravian Church in America, tabled in the House of Commons on Monday, February 7, 2000.

The Sub-Committee proceeded to consider a Draft Report.

On motion of Mr. Jordan, it was agreed, - that the Draft Report be adopted as the Sub-Committee's Second Report and that the Chair present it to the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs.

The Sub-Committee proceeded to consider a Draft Memo to Members of Parliament concerning the next draw.

It was agreed, that the Memo, as amended, be sent to Members of Parliament via e-mail.

At 4:30 p.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
