MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 1

Thursday, November 4, 1999

The Sub-Committee on Corrections and Conditional Release Act of the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met in camera at 10:17 a.m. this day, in Room 306, West Block, the Chair, Paul DeVillers, presiding.

Member(s) of the Sub-Committee present: Paul DeVillers, Jim Gouk, Ivan Grose, Jacques Saada and Tom Wappel.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Lynn Casavant, Researcher and Philip Rosen, Senior Analyst.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108 (2), a statutory review of the Corrections and Conditional Release Act.

The Sub-Committee proceeded to discuss its future business.

Tom Wappel moved, -- That the Sub-Committee hear witnesses on the question of statutory release on November 22, 1999.

After debate, the question being put on the motion, it was by a show of hands, agreed to.

At 11:06 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
