The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met at 3:37 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, John Williams, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Hec Clouthier, Marlene Jennings, Steve Mahoney, Beth Phinney, John Richardson, Judy Sgro and John Williams.
Acting Member present: Derrek Konrad for Philip Mayfield.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean Dupuis, Research Officer.
Witnesses: From the Office of the Auditor General of Canada: Sheila Fraser, Deputy Auditor General, Audit Operations; Grant Wilson, Principal, Audit Operations. From the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada: Shirley Serafini, Deputy Minister; Dennis Wallace, Associate Deputy Minister; Bob Coulter, Director, Learning, Employment and Human Development.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), the Committee proceeded to the consideration of Chapter 4 (Indian and Northern Affairs Canada -- Elementary and Secondary Education) of the April 2000 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.
Sheila Fraser and Shirley Serafini made opening statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
At 5:19 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
