The Standing Committee on Finance met at 3:41 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Maurizio Bevilacqua, Scott Brison, Roy Cullen, Yvan Loubier, Richard Marceau, Karen Redman and Paul Szabo.
Acting Member present: Rick Limoges for Gary Pillitteri.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean Soucy and Blayne Haggart, Researchers.
Witnesses: As Individual: Pierre Fortin, Professor, Department of Economics, University of Quebec in Montreal. From the Royal Bank of Canada: John McCallum, Senior Vice-President and Chief Economist. As Individuals: Bernard Élie, Professor, Department of Economics, University of Québec in Montreal; William Krehm, Chairman, Committee on Monetary and Economic Reform.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced consideration of Monetary Policy.
Pierre Fortin, John McCallum, Bernard Elie and William Krehm made statements and answered questions.
At 5:56 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
