The Standing Committee on Finance met at 3:42 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Acting Chair, Paul Szabo, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Roger Gallaway, Richard Marceau and Paul Szabo.
Acting Member present: Jim Abbott for Richard Harris.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean Soucy and Geoffrey Kieley, Researchers.
Witnesses: From the Canadian Bankers' Association: Warren Law, Vice-President, Corporate Affairs and Legal Counsel; Frank Craddock, Chair, Corporate Security Committee, Chief Security Officer, TD Bank Financial Group; Gene McLean, Director, Security. From the H&R Block Canada, Inc.: J. Bonar Irving, Senior Vice-President & General Manager; Todd McCallum, Vice-President. From the Canadian Police Association: David Griffin, Executive Officer. From the Royal Canadian Mounted Police: Tim Killam, Assistant Commissioner, Technical Operations; Lou Goulet, Staff Sergeant, Proceeds of Crime Branch; Gary Clement, Inspector.
The Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-22, An Act to facilitate combatting the laundering of proceeds of crime, to establish the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada and to amend and repeal certain Acts in consequence. (See Minutes of Proceedings, Tuesday, April 11, 2000, Meeting No. 46)
The Committee resumed consideration of Clause 1.
Warren Law, Frank Craddock, Gene McLean, Bonar Irving, David Griffin and Tim Killam made statements and with the other witnesses answered questions.
At 5:10 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
