Meeting No. 39

Wednesday, November 4, 1998

The Standing Committee on Transport met at 3:37 p.m. this day, in Room 306, West Block, the Chair, Ray Bonin, presiding.

Members of the Committee Committee present: Rob Anders, Roy Bailey, Ray Bonin, Murray Calder, John Cannis, Bill Casey, Roy Cullen, Bev Desjarlais, Stan Dromisky, Claude Drouin, Ovid Jackson, Stan Keyes, Paul Mercier, Lee Morrison, Lou Sekora.

Acting Members present: Gérard Asselin for Michel Guimond to 4:05 p.m. and Jocelyne Girard-Bujold from 4:06 p.m. for Michel Guimond.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: John Christopher, Research Officer.

Appearing: The Honourable David Collenette, Minister.

Witnesses: From the Transport Canada: Louis Ranger, Assistant Deputy Minister (Policy); Kristine Burr, Director General; Ronald Sully, Assistant Deputy Minister; Robert Green, Departmental General Counsel.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to a briefing session on National Highways and related issues.

The Honourable David Collenette made an opening statement and, with Louis Ranger, Kristine Burr, Ronald Sully and Robert Green, answered questions.

At 5:33 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
