Thursday, April 29, 1999

The Sub-Committee on Tax Equity for Canadian Families with Dependent Children of the Standing Committee on Finance met at 6:22 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Nick Discepola, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Serge Cardin, Nick Discepola, Paul Forseth, Karen Redman and Paul Szabo.

Other Member present: Odina Desrochers.

Acting Members present: Marlene Jennings for George Baker.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Marion Wrobel, Senior Analyst and Julie Cusson, Analyst.

Witnesses: From the Mothers Are Women: Sonya Nigam, Member, Steering Committee. From the FatherCraft Canada: Glen Cheriton, Executive Director.

Pursuant to the motion adopted by the Standing Committee on Finance, dated March 17, 1999, the Sub-Committee resumed its study on Tax Fairness for Canadian Families with Dependent Children.

Sonya Nigam from Mothers Are Women and Glenn Cheriton from FatherCraft Canada made statements and answered questions.

At 7:52 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
