Wednesday, March 17, 1999
The Sub-Committee on Human Rights and International Development of the Standing Committee of Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 3:41 p.m., this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Colleen Beaumier, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Jean Augustine, Colleen Beaumier, Maud Debien, the Hon. Sheila Finestone and Svend Robinson.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: James Lee, Research Officer and Gerald Schmitz, Research Coordinator.
Witnesses :From the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Adèle Dion, Acting Director General; Global and Human Issues Bureau.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Sub-Committee proceeded to hold an information session on annual human rights consultations.
Adèle Dion made an opening statement and answered questions.
At 5:00 p.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
