MINUTES OF PROCEEDING
(Meeting No. 20)

TUESDAY, JANUARY 27, 1998


The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met at 08:20 o’clock a.m., this day, in the Work Point Gym, Esquimalt, British Columbia, the Chair, Robert Bertrand, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Robert Bertrand, Art Hanger, Judi Longfield, David Pratt, John Richardson, Pierrette Venne and Bob Wood.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Wolf Koerner and Michel Rossignol, Research Officers.

Witnesses: As individual: Rear Admiral Russell Moore, Commander, MARPAC. From the Victoria Chamber of Commerce: Mrs. Myrna Borleske, Recent Past President; Mr. Cedric Steele. As individual: Mrs. Friessen; Cpl G.H. Berard, CFB, Esquimalt; LCdr Jean Lavalle, Work Point Mayor; Capt. Dave Wong, Base Social Worker; and LCol Little, CO HS 443.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of a Review of the Social and Economic Challenges Facing Members of the Canadian Forces.

The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.
