Government Orders

Debate arose thereon.

The Order was read for the second reading and reference to the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Bill C–61, An Act to implement the Canada-Israel Free Trade Agreement.

Mr. Eggleton (Minister for International Trade), seconded by Mrs. Robillard (Minister of Citizenship and Immigration), moved, — That the Bill be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

Debate arose thereon.

At 5:44 p.m., pursuant to Standing Order 45, the House resumed consideration of the motion of Mr. Mifflin (Minister of Fisheries and Oceans), seconded by Mr. Marchi (Minister of the Environment), — That Bill C–26, An Act respecting the oceans of Canada, be now read a third time and do pass.

The House proceeded to the taking of the deferred recorded division on the amendment of Mr. Bernier (Gaspé), seconded by Mr. Fillion (Chicoutimi), — That the motion be amended by deleting all the words after the word “That” and substituting the following:

“Bill C–26, An Act respecting the oceans of Canada, be not now read a third time but that it be read a third time this day six months hence.”
