Introduction of Government Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Ms. Marleau (Minister of Health), seconded by Mr. Gagliano (Secretary of State (Parliamentary Affairs) and Deputy Leader of the Government in the House of Commons), Bill C–95, An Act to establish the Department of Health and to amend and repeal certain Acts, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Recommendation

His Excellency the Governor General recommends to the House of Commons the appropriation of public revenue under the circumstances, in the manner and for the purposes set out in a measure entitled “An Act to establish the Department of Health and to amend and repeal certain Acts”.

Government Orders

The Order was read for the consideration of the Business of Supply.

Mr. Leroux (Richmond–Wolfe), seconded by Mr. Crête (Kamouraska–Rivière-du-Loup), moved, — That this House condemn the government’s legislative agenda, which makes clear its intention to usurp provincial jurisdictions and construct an entirely centralized state, as can be seen from Bills C–76, C–88, C–46 and C–91, all designed to take substantial powers away from Québec and transfer them to the federal government.

Debate arose thereon.
