On October 25, 2017, the House of Commons Standing Committee on International Trade passed a motion regarding its intention to undertake a study of a potential free trade agreement between Canada and the Pacific Alliance, an economic bloc composed of Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru. Negotiations on this agreement began in October 2017.

As part of its study, the Committee will hold meetings to hear Canadians' views on the benefits and disadvantages of implementing this agreement, the priorities Canada should focus on during negotiations and any other points that parliamentarians should consider during this study.
