Pursuant to the order of reference of Wednesday, December 6, 2023, the committee commenced consideration of the question of privilege related to the Speaker's public participation at an Ontario Liberal Party convention.

At 11:19 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:45 a.m., the sitting resumed.

At 1:11 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:36 p.m., the sitting resumed.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to its order of reference of Wednesday, December 6, 2023, concerning the breach of the Speaker’s impartiality, the committee invite each of the following witnesses to appear on their own:

1. The Speaker of the House of Commons, the Honourable Greg Fergus for at least two hours;

2. John Fraser, MPP for Ottawa South for at least one hour;

3. Eric Janse, the Acting Clerk of the House of Commons, for at least one hour;

4. The chair or co-chairs of the Ontario Liberal Party’s 2023 leadership election organizing committee, for at least one hour.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $7,750, for the study of the question of privilege related to the Speaker's public participation at an Ontario Liberal Party convention, be adopted.

At 3:44 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
