Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(f) and the motion adopted by the committee on Friday, April 21, 2023, the committee resumed its study of Increased Francophone Immigration to Canada.

Alain Desruisseaux and Olivier Jacques made statements and, with Sarah Boily and Julie Boyer, answered questions.

At 8:56 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:01 a.m., the sitting resumed.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $16,200, for the study of Increased Francophone Immigration to Canada, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $2,250 for the study of the Annual Report 2022-23 of the Commissioner of Official Languages, be adopted.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

Motion

Joël Godin moved, — That, in relation to the study of Increased Francophone Immigration to Canada, the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship be invited to appear for a full hour.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

At 10:37 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
