Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Friday, April 29, 2022, the committee resumed its study of Arctic sovereignty, security and emergency preparedness of Indigenous Peoples.

It was agreed, — That the deadline to submit amendments on Bill S-219 to the clerk be moved to Friday, December 2, 2022, at noon.

It was agreed, — That the witness lists for the study on Indigenous Languages be submitted to the clerk by noon on Tuesday, December 6, 2022.

The Minister made a statement and, with Gina Wilson, Joanne Wilkinson, Kenza El Bied and Valerie Gideon, answered questions.

Motion

Gary Vidal moved, — That the evidence received by the Public Accounts Committee on the study of Report 8, Emergency Management in First Nations Communities – Indigenous Services Canada, of the 2022 Reports 5 to 8 of the Auditor General of Canada, on Friday, 25 November 2022, be taken into consideration by the committee in its study of Arctic sovereignty, security and emergency preparedness of Indigenous Peoples.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:

YEAS: Earl Dreeshen, Lori Idlout, Eric Melillo, Gabriel Ste-Marie, Gary Vidal, Bob Zimmer — 6;

NAYS: Jenica Atwin, Vance Badawey, Michael V. McLeod, Marcus Powlowski, Patrick Weiler — 5.

At 5:36 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
