Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, February 3, 2022, the committee commenced its study of the Housing Accelerator Fund.

Edith Cyr, Jill Atkey and Abigail Bond made statements and answered questions.

Motion

Stephanie Kusie moved, — That the committee invite the Minister of Families, Children and Social Development to appear for one hour on the Service Canada delays for passport renewals, and that this meeting take place before Monday, May 30, 2022.

Debate arose thereon.

Amendment

Soraya Martinez Ferrada moved, — That the motion be amended by adding after the words “Minister of Families, Children and Social Development” the following: “and departmental officials”.

After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Soraya Martinez Ferrada and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:

The motion, as amended, read as follows:

That the committee invite the Minister of Families, Children and Social Development and departmental officials to appear for one hour on the Service Canada delays for passport renewals, and that this meeting take place before Monday, May 30, 2022.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

At 4:29 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:35 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the committee hold an informal meeting with a delegation of parliamentarians from the Republic of Finland on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, that the committee defray the hospitality expenses related to the meeting, and that these expenses be equally shared with the Standing Committee on Health.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, February 3, 2022, the committee resumed its study of impact of COVID-19 on seniors.

The committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

At 5:27 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
