The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That Andréanne Larouche present the report on Bill C-319 to the House.

It was agreed, — That, the amount for the 2024 Centennial Flame Research Award be set at $7,500; that the deadline for submitting an application to the committee be set at Wednesday, May 1, 2024; and that a press release be published on the committee’s website.

It was agreed, — That the draft letter addressed to the Minister of Finance be approved and sent to her.

It was agreed, — That the Second Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, which read as follows, be concurred in:

Your Subcommittee met on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, to consider the business of the Committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:

1. Four meetings on Bill C-58, An Act to amend the Canada Labour Code and the Canada Industrial Relations Board Regulations, 2012, and one meeting for clause-by-clause;
2. Three meetings on the Supplementary Estimates (C) for the fiscal year 2023-24 and the Main Estimates for the fiscal year of 2024-2025;
3. One meeting on Bill C-322, An Act to develop a national framework to establish a school food program and one meeting for clause-by-clause;
4. Consideration of the three outstanding substantive reports (Canada Summer Jobs Wage Subsidy Program, Implications of Artificial Intelligence Technologies for the Canadian Labour Force and Intergenerational Volunteerism) prior to the adjournment in June 2024; and
5. Four meetings on the housing motion adopted on February 12, 2024, including hearing from the federal housing advocate.
The Committee shall determine its remaining priorities following the above.

It was agreed, — That following the study on housing and homelessness, adopted on February 12, 2024, the Committee prioritizes the study on the compensation disparities between unionized and non-unionized workers in Canada, adopted on February 26, 2024.

It was agreed, — That following the study on the compensation disparities between unionized and non-unionized workers in Canada, adopted on February 26, 2024, the Committee prioritizes the study on Canada without Barriers by 2040, adopted on February 12, 2024.

It was agreed, — That members submit their prioritized list of witnesses for the study of Bill C-58 to the clerk no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024.

It was agreed, — That the deadline for the submission of briefs in relation to the study of Bill C-58 be Monday, April 15, 2024.

It was agreed, — That the correspondence received by Air Canada dated February 16, 2024, be shared with the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, in the context of its study on accessible transportation for persons with disabilities.

At 8:59 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:06 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Friday, June 2, 2023, the committee resumed its study of Canada Summer Jobs wage subsidy program.

The committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

At 10:15 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
