The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

ORDERED, — That, in relation to the access to information request received by Public Services and Procurement Canada and communicated to the committee on Monday, October 17, 2022, the committee instruct the clerk to authorize disclosure of said documents, provided that they may be redacted so as not to be prejudicial to the House, its committees or anyone who participated in the proceedings in question, with the understanding that they remain protected by parliamentary privilege.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, the committee resumed its study of Canada's health workforce.

The committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

It was agreed, — That the committee proceed to sit in public.

At 12:39 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:53 p.m., the sitting resumed in public.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

On motion of Ron Liepert, it was agreed, — That the committee resume consideration of the motion of Stephen Ellis moved on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, which read as follows:

That, for the next twelve months, Health Canada table with the committee on a weekly basis the number of infant and children’s acetaminophen and ibuprofen doses that arrived in Canada that week, the number of doses anticipated to arrive the following week; and, that this information be provided in both official languages, and the clerk post this information on the committee’s website immediately.

Amendment

Adam van Koeverden moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing all the words after “That, for the next” with the following: “six months Health Canada table with the committee on a monthly basis the number of infant and children’s analgesic units that arrived in Canada through exceptional importations that month; and, that this information be provided in both official languages, and the clerk post this information on the committee’s website immediately”.

Debate arose thereon.

Laila Goodridge moved, — That the amendment be amended by replacing the word “monthly” with the word “weekly”.

By unanimous consent, the subamendment was withdrawn.

Laila Goodridge moved, — That the amendment be amended by replacing the words “on a monthly basis” with the words “every 14 days”.

After debate, the question was put on the subamendment of Laila Goodridge and it was agreed to.

After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Adam van Koeverden, as amended, and it was agreed to.

The motion, as amended, read as follows:

That, for the next six months, Health Canada table with the committee every 14 days the number of infant and children’s analgesic units that arrived in Canada through exceptional importations that month; and, that this information be provided in both official languages, and the clerk post this information on the committee’s website immediately.

On motion of Adam van Koeverden, it was agreed, — That the committee undertake a study of the Supplementary Estimates (B), 2022-23; that the Minister of Health and the Minister of Mental Health and Addictions be invited to appear for one hour, along with departmental officials, on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, and that departmental officials be invited to remain for the second hour.

At 1:14 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
