The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

At 3:47 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:53 p.m., the sitting resumed.

It was agreed, — That, following its study of pinniped stock management, the committee begin meetings on its study of foreign ownership and corporate concentration of fishing licenses and quota.

It was agreed, — That the committee travel to Norway, in the spring of 2023, in relation to its study of pinniped stock management.

ORDERED, — That the clerk of the committee, in consultation with the Chair, prepare a preliminary submission respecting the committee's proposed travel to Norway, in relation to its study of pinniped stock management, for consideration by the Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, the committee resumed its study of the closure of mackerel fishing in Atlantic Canada and the Gulf of the St. Lawrence.

It was agreed, — That members communicate their final approval of the draft letter to the clerk of the committee and that, at the Chair’s discretion, the clerk, in collaboration with the analyst, finalize and send the letter to the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard.

At 5:14 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
