The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $8,250, for the study of the closure of mackerel fishing in Atlantic Canada and in the Gulf of the St. Lawrence, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $13,000, for the study of the impacts of Hurricane Fiona and the climate crisis on Atlantic Canada, be adopted.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, the committee resumed its study of the closure of mackerel fishing in Atlantic Canada and the Gulf of the St. Lawrence.

Martin Mallet, Melanie Giffin and Scott Hubley made statements and, with Louis Ferguson and Nathan Cheverie, answered questions.

At 3:52 p.m., pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the committee continue to sit.

At 4:22 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:30 p.m., the sitting resumed.

At 4:51 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:55 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Todd Williams made a statement and, with Jean-Yves Savaria, answered questions.

At 5:39 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
