The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

Motion

Jaime Battiste moved, — That the committee commence its study of frozen-at-sea spot prawns at the earliest opportunity, resume with the last meetings scheduled on its study of the state of the Pacific salmon, and thereafter commence its study of corporate offshore licences.

Debate arose thereon.

Amendment

Mel Arnold moved, — That the motion be amended by adding after the words “offshore licences” the following: “and that the study of the state of the Pacific salmon be identified as the first priority to get done”.

After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Mel Arnold and it was negatived on the following recorded division:

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of frozen-at-sea spot prawns, members submit their list of suggested witnesses no later than Thursday, April 29, at 12:00 p.m. ET.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of frozen-at-sea spot prawns, the committee report its recommendations to the House and to the Minister by way of a letter.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of the state of the Pacific salmon, members submit their list of additional witnesses no later than Friday, April 30, at 12:00 p.m. ET.

Motion

Richard Bragdon moved, — That the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard be invited to appear before the committee to discuss the study of the state of the Pacific salmon and relevant measures contained in Budget 2021.

Debate arose thereon.

Amendment

Mel Arnold moved, — That the motion be amended by adding after the words “before the committee” the following: “for one two-hour meeting”.
