Pursuant to Standing Order 106(4), the committee commenced consideration of the request by four members of the committee to undertake a study of the issue of systemic racism in policing in Canada.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108 (2), the committee undertake a study of systemic racism in policing in Canada; and that the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness as well as the Commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police be invited to testify on Tuesday June 23, 2020.

It was agreed, — That the budget in the amount of $3,300, for the committee's study of systemic racism in policing in Canada, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the committee proceed to sit in camera.

The sitting was suspended.

The sitting resumed in camera.

It was agreed, — That the committee hold four two-hour meetings as part of its study of systemic racism in policing in Canada during the week of July 20, 2020.

It was agreed, — That members have until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday June 25, 2020, to send their lists of suggested witnesses to the clerk.

ORDERED, — That the clerk be instructed to organize an informal meeting of the subcommittee to be held on Monday, June 29, 2020, for the purpose of selecting witnesses to be invited to testify in relation to the committee’s study of systemic racism in policing in Canada.

At 4:02 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
