The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

Motion

Angelo Iacono moved, — That the study on air safety focus on the following: CATSA’s service delivery model; the Civil Aviation Surveillance Program; the work conditions of aircraft personnel and inspectors, including their training; and security screening for employees working in secure areas of airports;

and that, in consultation with the Committee Members, the Chair be empowered to organize the schedule and resources necessary to execute the study.

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That the debate be now adjourned and the motion be reconsidered 15 minutes before the end of the meeting.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, December 1, 2016, the Committee commenced its study of aviation safety.

Kathleen Fox made a statement and, with Yanick Sarazin, answered questions.

At 11:54 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:59 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Fred L. Jones, Gregory Belenky, by videoconference from Pullman, Washington, Carlos DaCosta and Jonathan Histon made statements and answered questions.

At 12:44 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:49 p.m., the sitting resumed.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

The Committee resumed consideration of the motion in the name of Angelo Iacono

By unanimous consent, the motion was withdrawn.

By unanimous consent, on motion of Angelo Iacono, it was agreed, — That, as part of the aviation safety study, the Committee commit to add up to two meetings, commencing with an in camera session with appropriate security officials, on the subject of screening of employees working in secure areas of airports.

At 12:55 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
