Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Monday, November 27, 2017, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-59, An Act respecting national security matters.

Pierre Blais and Richard B. Fadden made statements and, with Chantelle Bowers, answered questions.

At 12:01 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:05 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Faisal Mirza, by videoconference from Mississauga, Ontario, and Dominique Peschard made statements and, with Denis Barrette, answered questions.

At 12:43 p.m., Pierre Paul-Hus took the Chair.

At 12:48 p.m., John McKay took the Chair.

At 12:57 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:58 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Tenth Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, which read as follows, be concurred in as amended:

Your Subcommittee met on Thursday, February 1, 2018, to consider the business of the Committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:

1. That notwithstanding the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, the date of Thursday, February 22, 2018, be designated as the deadline for the submission of amendments to Bill C-59, An Act respecting national security matters, by Members of the Committee as well as by Members who are not part of a caucus represented on the Committee.

2. That the Minister of Public Safety as well as all officials who appeared with him at the meeting of Thursday, November 30, 2017, be invited to appear before the Committee in relation to its study of Bill C-59, An Act respecting national security matters on Tuesday, February 13, 2018.

At 1:06 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
