The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

At 8:50 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 8:51 a.m., the sitting resumed in public.

It was agreed, — That the Committee render public Kelly McCauley’s earlier comments.

The Committee resumed consideration of the motion moved by Kelly McCauley on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, which read as follows:

That the Committee invite the Parliamentary Budget Officer to appear before the end of the current Parliamentary session to provide a briefing on the estimates process and his recent report to Parliament; and that the meeting be held outside of the Committee’s regular schedule if necessary.

Debate arose thereon.

Amendment

Nick Whalen moved, — That the motion be amended by deleting the words “and that the meeting be held outside of the Committee’s regular schedule if necessary”.

After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Nick Whalen and it was agreed to.

The question was put on the motion, as amended, and it was agreed to. The motion now reads as follows — That the Committee invite the Parliamentary Budget Officer to appear before the end of the current Parliamentary session to provide a briefing on the estimates process and his recent report to Parliament.

At 8:58 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 8:59 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 2, 2017, the Committee resumed its study of the Public Servants Disclosure Protection Act.

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: “Strengthening the Protection of the Public Interest within the Public Servants Disclosure Protection Act”.

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(1)(b), the Committee append to its report dissenting and/or supplementary opinions immediately after the signature of the Chair, provided that they be submitted electronically (in Arial 12 point font, justified alignment and single line spacing), in both official languages, to the Clerk of the Committee, no later than Thursday, June 15, 2017.

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

At 11:02 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
