Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(c)(vii) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, the Committee resumed its study of the estimates process.

Brian Pagan made a statement and, with André Lapointe and Marcia Santiago, answered questions.

Daniel Blaikie moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108, the Committee request that the Treasury Board Secretariat provide information no later than Tuesday, July 3, 2018, pertaining to the participation of employees of Canadian Nuclear Laboratories in the Public Service Pension Plan, in particular an “assessment of what the cost to government would be in terms of allowing them to remain in the plan”, as was committed to by Treasury Board Secretariat officials during the Committee’s meeting of Thursday, November 9, 2017.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was negatived on the following recorded division:

YEAS: Daniel Blaikie, Pat Kelly, Kelly McCauley — 3;

NAYS: Ramez Ayoub, Francis Drouin, Majid Jowhari, Alexandra Mendès, Kyle Peterson, Yasmin Ratansi — 6.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

At 12:51 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:52 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the analysts for a report.

At 1:08 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
