[English]

     Welcome, everyone.
Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the second vice-chair must be a member of an official party other than the official opposition.
    An hon. member: [Inaudible—Editor]
The Chair: No, Mr. Doherty was going to try something, but it won't work unless Mel is going to cross the floor.
I am now prepared to receive a motion for second vice-chair.
Mr. Chair, I'll nominate Gord Johns as second vice-chair.
It has been moved by Mr. Arnold that Gord Johns be elected second vice-chair of the committee.
Is it the pleasure of the committee to adopt the motion?
    (Motion agreed to)
Mr. Chair, have we not received any others, perhaps from Elizabeth May or anybody? Are there no others?
Nobody else has stepped forward. They heard that Gord was going to run.
I declare the motion carried and Gord Johns duly elected second vice-chair of the committee.
    Some hon. members: Hear, hear!
The Chair: In the past, Gord, vice-chairs have taken the full committee out to dinner or something, so we'll allow you to pick the date. It's usually done within the first two or three weeks.
I thought it was a welcoming party and everybody on the committee took me out for dinner. I thought that was the idea.
We'll tell you where to meet us.
     Fin always serves salmon.
Will the committee move a motion to adjourn?
    Some hon. members: Agreed.
    The Chair: We're adjourned.
