Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Friday, February 1, 2019, the Committee commenced consideration of Bill S-203, An Act to amend the Criminal Code and other Acts (ending the captivity of whales and dolphins).

The Chair called Clause 1.

Elizabeth May made a statement.

Murray Sinclair and Ingrid Visser, by videoconference from Tutukaka, New Zealand, made statements and answered questions.

At 4:28 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:33 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Adam Burns made a statement and, with Joanne Klineberg and Carolina Caceres, answered questions.

At 5:22 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:27 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Hal Whitehead, by videoconference from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Laura H. Graham, by videoconference from Guelph, Ontario, Clinton Wright, Andrew Burns and Martin Haulena made statements.

At 6:00 p.m., pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit.
