The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

Motion

Pierre Breton moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food undertake a study on the mental health challenges that our farmers, ranchers, and producers face; that this study meet with farmers, ranchers, producers, and community health groups with the goal of understanding the issues they face, sharing best practices, reviewing currently available resources and identifying gaps related to mental health in the Canadian agriculture community; that the Committee report its finding to the House; that the study would be undertaken over a period of a minimum of six meetings and start as soon as Wednesday, May 23, 2018.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 9; NAYS: 0.

At 3:38 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:39 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motions adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, and Thursday, October 26, 2017, the Committee resumed its study of climate change and water and soil conservation issues.

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Climate Change and Soil and Water Conservation".

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

It was agreed, — That dissenting or supplementary opinions be in Calibri 12-point font, left aligned, single spaced, with titles in Cambria 14-point font and be submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the Clerk of the Committee, no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2018.

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That in relation to the study of advancements of technology and research in the agriculture industry that can support Canadian exports, the Committee invite the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food to appear at his earliest convenience.

At 4:40 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
