The Standing Committee on Official Languages met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 228, The Valour Building, the Chair, the Hon. Michael D. Chong, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Corneliu Chisu, Hon. Michael D. Chong, Joe Daniel, Jacques Gourde, Claude Gravelle, Chungsen Leung, Jamie Nicholls, Lise St-Denis and John Williamson.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lucie Lecomte, Analyst.

 
By unanimous consent, pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the Clerk of the Committee proceeded to the election of a Vice-Chair.
 

On motion of Jacques Gourde, it was agreed, — That Jamie Nicholls be elected First Vice-Chair of the Committee.

 

At 3:31 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:32 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(f) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 6, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of the economic situation of Canada's minority linguistic communities.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

At 4:36, the sitting was suspended.

At 4:55 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the meeting of Thursday, Febrary 19, 2015, be cancelled.

 

It was agreed, — That the first hour of the meeting on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, be dedicated to the consideration of the draft report for its study on the economic situation of Canada’s minority linguistic communities; and that the second hour of the meeting be dedicated to Committee business.

 

At 5:27 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
