The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 8:45 a.m. this day, in Room 7-52, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, Phil McColeman, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Armstrong, Tarik Brahmi, Brad Butt, Rodger Cuzner, Sadia Groguhé, Colin Mayes, Phil McColeman, Cathy McLeod and Devinder Shory.

 

Acting Members present: Carol Hughes for Jinny Jogindera Sims.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Havi Echenberg, Analyst; Isabelle Lafontaine-Émond, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Association of Canadian Community Colleges: Denise Amyot, President and Chief Executive Officer; Anna Toneguzzo, Manager, Government Relations and Policy Research, Public Policy and Canadian Partnerships. Canadian Electricity Association: Jim R. Burpee, President and Chief Executive Officer; Joe Heil, Director of First Nations and Metis Relations, Ontario Power Generation Inc. Nunavut Fisheries and Marine Training Consortium: Elisabeth Cayen, Executive Director. First Peoples Development Inc.: Joan Harris, Program Manager. YMCA-YWCA - Winnipeg: Kent Paterson, President and Chief Executive Officer.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, November 7, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of opportunities for aboriginal persons in the workforce.
 

Denise Amyot, Jim R. Burpee and Joe Heil each made a statement and, with Anna Toneguzzo, answered questions.

 

At 9:42 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:48 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Elisabeth Cayen, Kent Paterson and Joan Harris made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:44 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
