EVIDENCE

[Recorded by Electronic Apparatus]

(1530)

[Translation]

    Honourable members of the committee,

[English]

I see a quorum. We can now proceed to the election of the chair.

[Translation]

Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the chair of the committee must be a member of the government party.

[English]

I am ready to receive motions for chair.
    Madame Boivin.

[Translation]

I want to welcome everyone, especially the new members of the committee, as we enter 2013.
I would like to nominate my colleague, Mike Wallace.
    Are there any further motions?

[English]

Is it the pleasure of the committee to adopt the motion?
    (Motion agreed to)
The Clerk: I declare the motion carried and Mr. Wallace duly elected chair of the committee.
    Some hon. members: Hear, hear!

[Translation]

    Thank you, Ms. Boivin.

[English]

We're going to do this relatively quickly.
I appreciate that you guys didn't meet last week while I was away. That was nice.
On Wednesday we have the potential for the minister to come before us for the first hour to start the discussion on Bill S-9. The second hour would be for the officials.
I need unanimous consent for that to happen. After that, we will adjourn this meeting and then begin the meeting of the subcommittee on agenda and procedure.
Could I have a motion for unanimous consent for that?
I so move that we start consideration of Bill S-9 on Wednesday, with the Minister of Justice coming for the first hour and the officials for the second hour.
Are there any questions or comments? Are we all in agreement?
    (Motion agreed to)
That's carried, so I will conclude this meeting. Those who are not on the subcommittee on agenda and procedure can leave.
Replacing Mr. Goguen on that subcommittee just for today is Dan Albas.
     Okay.
    This meeting is adjourned.
    Thank you very much.
