The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met at 8:46 a.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Harold Albrecht, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Harold Albrecht, François Choquette, Kirsty Duncan, Megan Anissa Leslie, James Lunney, François Pilon, Anne Minh-Thu Quach, Michelle Rempel, Robert Sopuck, Brian Storseth, Lawrence Toet and Stephen Woodworth.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Penny Becklumb, Analyst.

Witnesses: Mining Association of Canada: Pierre Gratton, President and Chief Executive Officer; Ben Chalmers, Vice-President, Sustainable Development. Canadian Electricity Association: Jim R. Burpee, President and Chief Executive Officer; Dan Gibson, Senior Environmental Scientist, Hydro Environment Division, Ontario Power Generation Inc.. Canadian Wildlife Federation: Rick Bates, Executive Director; James Page, Manager, Species at Risk Program. Forest Products Association of Canada: Mark Hubert, Vice-President, Environmental Leadership; Kate Lindsay, Advisor, Conservation Biology.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 14, 2013, the Committee resumed its study on habitat conservation in Canada.

Pierre Gratton, Jim R. Burpee, Dan Gibson, Rick Bates and Mark Hubert made statements and, with Ben Chalmers, Kate Lindsay and James Page, answered questions.

At 10:44 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
