The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met at 9:02 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Hon. Diane Marleau, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Harold Albrecht, Diane Bourgeois, Meili Faille, Mark Holland, Hon. Diane Marleau, James Moore, Mario Silva and Chris Warkentin.

 

Acting Members present: Rick Dykstra for Patrick Brown, Richard Harris for Daryl Kramp, Hon. Marlene Jennings for Raymonde Folco, Bob Mills for Daryl Kramp and Denise Savoie for Charlie Angus.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Philippe Le Goff, Analyst; Mathieu Stanton, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Office of the Public Sector Integrity Commissioner: Christiane Ouimet, Commissioner; Wayne Watson, Deputy Commissioner; Joe Friday, General Counsel.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2008-2009: Vote 40 under TREASURY BOARD, referred to the Committee on Thursday February 28, 2008.
 

Christiane Ouimet made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 10:06 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:12 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of Federal Employee Compensation Delivery System.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analyst be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "The Right Pay for Valuable Employees".

 

It was agreed, — That the Clerk of the Committee make the necessary arrangements for a press conference to be held after the tabling of the Committee’s report to the House on Compensation; and that the Committee be represented by the Chair and a representative from each party.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

At 10:25 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
