The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met at 9:08 this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Diane Marleau, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Harold Albrecht, Charlie Angus, Diane Bourgeois, Patrick Brown, Meili Faille, Raymonde Folco, Mark Holland, Daryl Kramp, Hon. Diane Marleau, James Moore and Chris Warkentin.

 

Acting Members present: Nancy Karetak-Lindell for Mario Silva.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Philippe Le Goff, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canada Public Service Agency: Karen Ellis, Senior Vice-President, Workforce and Workplace Renewal.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, January 29, 2008, the Committee commenced its study of Geographic Distribution and Turnover Rate of Federal Public Servants.
 

The witness made a statement and answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Charlie Angus moved, — That the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates study the implementation of Justice John Gomery’s 19 recommendations arising from the Commission of Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and Advertising Activities; and

That the Committee report back to the House the progress that has been made on the implementation of these recommendations; and

That the Committee note that part of Justice Gomery’s mandate was to make recommendations, based on factual findings, to prevent future mismanagement of sponsorship programs or advertising activities.

 

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 11; NAYS: 0.

 

At 11:02 , the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
