The Standing Committee on Finance met at 10:11 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Vice-Chair, Massimo Pacetti, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Diane Ablonczy, Dean Del Mastro, Rick Dykstra, Hon. John McCallum, Hon. John McKay, Massimo Pacetti, Pierre A. Paquette, Thierry St-Cyr and Hon. Robert Thibault.

 

Acting Members present: Wayne Marston for Judy Wasylycia-Leis, Rick Norlock for Brian Pallister and Bradley R. Trost for Mike Wallace.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Principal; Alexandre Laurin, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Thursday, December 7, 2006, the Committee commenced consideration of Bill C-37, An Act to amend the law governing financial institutions and to provide for related and consequential matters.
 

The Minister made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 11:00 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
