The Standing Committee on Official Languages met in camera at 9:08 a.m. this day, in Room 371 West Block, the Chair, Pablo Rodriguez, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Guy André, Françoise Boivin, Jean-Claude D'Amours, Odina Desrochers, Marc Godbout, Yvon Godin, Guy Lauzon, Pierre Poilievre, Pablo Rodriguez, Andrew Scheer, Raymond Simard and Maurice Vellacott.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Marion Ménard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Commission nationale des parents francophones: Murielle Gagné-Ouellette, Director General; Ghislaine Pilon, President.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(f), the Committee resumed consideration of the study on a Government Report entitled: The next Act: New momentum for Canada's linguistic duality - The Action Plan for Official Languages.
 

Ghislaine Pilon made astatement and, with the other witness, answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 10:26 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:27 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That Odida Desrochers present the following motion:

— That the Official Languages Committee inquire why during the American President visit, the status of official languages has not been respected by RCMP security agents assigned on Parliament Hill.

The motion was adopted unanimously and it was agreed, — That the officers responsible for security for this event be invited before the Committee as soon as possible in order for them to appear before the Christmas ajournment.

 

At 10:59 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
