The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills Development, Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 11:42 a.m. this day, in Room 705 La Promenade Building, the Chair, Raymonde Folco, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Peter Adams, Hon. Eleni Bakopanos, Jean-Claude D'Amours, Barry Devolin, Raymonde Folco, Christiane Gagnon, Ed Komarnicki, Yves Lessard, Tony Martin and Peter Van Loan.

 

Acting Members present: Rodger Cuzner for Yasmin Ratansi and Tom Lukiwski for Paul Forseth.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Chantal Collin, Analyst; Kevin Kerr, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2)and the motion adopted by the Committee on June 16, 2005, the Committee commenced its study of concerns of certain members of the Committee relating to Bill C-280, An Act to amend the Employement Insurance Act (Employment Insurance Account and premium rate setting) and another Act in consequence.
 
The Committee proceeded to discuss its future business in camera.
 

It was agreed, — That, in the fall, pursuant to Standing Order 108 (2), the Committee undertake a study on the Canada Social Transfer and shorter studies in the following order: Summer Work Employment Programs; Barriers to mobility among workers and Aboriginal Labour Market Measures delivered by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada.

 

It was agreed, — That a study on Access on the Hill be delegated to the Subcommittee for Persons with Disabilities.

 

It was agreed, — That, if the House sits next week, the Committee commence its study on Summer Work Employment Programs with a briefing session by HRSDC officials June 28th, 2005 and the selection of witnesses June 30th, 2005 .

 

At 12:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
