The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met at 1:36 p.m. this day, in the Pinnacle Ballroom 3, Marriott Vancouver Pinnacle, Vancouver, British Columbia, the Chair, Andrew Telegdi, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Colleen Beaumier, Meili Faille, Hon. Hedy Fry, Inky Mark, Bill Siksay, Hon. Andrew Telegdi and Lui Temelkovski.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Benjamin Dolin, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Society for Canadian Women in Science and Technology: Shauna Paull, Immigrating Women in Science Project. Lexbase: Richard Kurland, Editor-in-Chief. City of Vancouver's Special Advisory Committee on Diversity Issues: Balwin Wong, Social Planner; Holly Turner; Olga Scherbina, Advisor. Filipino Nurses Support Group: Sheila Farrales, Member; Leah Diana, Member/Organizer. Canadian Immigrant Magazine: Naeem (Nick) Noorani, President and CEO. Success: Lilian To, Chief Executive Officer; Thomas Yeung, Principal, Training Institute.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, October 27, 2004, the Committee resumed its study of Recognition of the International Experience and Credentials of Immigrants.
 

Panel I.

 

Shauna Paull made a statement and answered questions.

 

Richard Kurland made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 2:35 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
