The Chair (Ms. Marlene Catterall (Ottawa West—Nepean, Lib.)): The committee is now in open session.

    Mr. Kotto, your motion, please.

Mr. Maka Kotto (Saint-Lambert, BQ): Thank you, Madam Chair.

I'd like to thank Ms. Bulte and Ms. Oda for co-operating with us in good faith. We got off to a rather rocky start, but we have achieved a positive outcome. We have found a basis for agreement and produced a revised motion which reads as follows:

That in the opinion of the committee, the federal government must tighten its policies in broadcasting, as it said in the report entitled Our cultural sovereignty: the second century of Canadian broadcasting, so that Canada entirely controls broadcasting in radio and television on its territory.

The Chair: Is there any discussion on Mr. Kotto's motion?

    (Motion agreed to)

-

The Chair: The chair will report that to the House at the earliest opportunity.

Thank you very much, committee members, for the excellent work. We will meet again tomorrow afternoon at 3:30.

    This meeting is adjourned.
