MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 18

Thursday, February 20, 2003

The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 11:05 a.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Tom Wappel, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Andy Burton, John Cummins, R. John Efford, Georges Farrah, Loyola Hearn, Bill Matthews, Joe Peschisolido, Jean-Yves Roy, Peter Stoffer, Tom Wappel, Bob Wood.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Alan Nixon and François Côté, research officers.

The Chair informed the Committee of the resignation of Rodger Cuzner as Vice-Chair.

Accordingly, pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the Committee proceeded to the election of a Vice-Chair.

The Clerk of the Committee presided over the election.

On motion of R. John Efford, it was agreed, - That Bill Matthews be elected Vice-Chair of the Committee.

Tom Wappel took the Chair.

At 11:08 a.m., the Committee proceeded to sit in camera.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on aquaculture in Canada (See Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, November 7, 2002, Meeting No. 2).

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

At 12:49 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
