The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 3:37 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D Centre Block, the Vice-Chair, Nick Discepola, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Roy Cullen, Nick Discepola, Rahim Jaffer, Sophia Leung, Maria Minna, Pauline Picard, Gary Pillitteri, Tony Valeri and Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Principal; Blayne Haggart, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Council on Social Development: John Anderson, Vice-President, Research. North-South Institute: Roy Culpeper, President. Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami of Canada: Jose A. Kusugak, President; Whit Fraser, Political Advisor. Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation: Donald K. Johnson, Director. Sault College of Applied Arts and Technology: Timothy Meyer, President. Canadian Chemical Producers' Association: Richard Paton, President and Chief Executive Officer; David F. Podruzny, Senior Project Manager. Canadian Alliance of Student Associations: Robert South, Government Relations Coordinator; Kim Steele, Policy and Research Officer.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 83(1), the Committee resumed its pre-budget consultations.
 

Panel I: Richard Paton, Timothy Meyer, Donald K. Johnson and Roy Culpeper made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 5:00 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:05 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Panel II: Jose A. Kusugak, John Anderson and Robert South made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 5:41 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
