Meeting No. 15

Thursday, March 20, 2003

The Legislative Committee on Bill C-17 met at 9:19 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Bob Kilger, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Sarkis Assadourian, Rex Barnes, Garry Breitkreuz, Bev Desjarlais, Marlene Jennings, Bob Kilger, Mario Laframboise, Steve Mahoney.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament:  Margaret Young, Analyst.

Witnesses: From the Shipping Federation of Canada: Richard Le Hir, President; Anne Legars, Director, Policy and Government Affairs. From the Canadian Association of University Teachers: James Turk, Executive Director; Paul Jones, Research and Education Officer.

The Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-17, Public Safety Act 2002.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 9:42 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:11 a.m., the sitting resumed.

At 11:00 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
