Tuesday, May 25, 1999

The Sub-Committee on Tax Equity for Canadian Families with Dependent Children of the Standing Committee on Finance met at 9:12 a.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Acting Chair, Paul Szabo, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Serge Cardin, Michelle Dockrill, John Herron, Rey Pagtakhan and Paul Szabo.

Acting Member present: Monte Solberg for Paul Forseth.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Marion Wrobel, Senior Analyst.

Witnesses: From the Statistics Canada: Doug Norris, Director, Housing, Family and Social Statistics; Maryanne Webber, Director, Income Statistics. From the Canadian Policy Research Networks: Judith Maxwell, President.

Pursuant to the motion adopted by the Standing Committee on Finance, dated March 17, 1999, the Sub-Committee resumed its study on Tax Fairness for Canadian Families with Dependent Children.

Doug Norris and Maryanne Webber made opening statements and answered questions.

At 10:40 a.m., Judith Maxwell made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 11:57 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
