The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met jointly with the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade at 3:17 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chairs, Pat O'Brien and Bill Graham, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Robert Bertrand, Hec Clouthier, Gordon Earle, René Laurin, Pat O'Brien, John O'Reilly, David Pratt, David Price, George Proud and John Richardson.
Members of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade present: Bill Graham, Jerry Pickard, Julian Reed, Bob Mills and Daniel Turp.
Associate Member of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade present: Murray Calder, Aileen Carroll and Denis Paradis.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Corinne McDonald and James Lee, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the Department of National Defence: Lt-Gen Raymond R. Henault, Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff, OP ABACUS. From the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Jim Wright, Director General for Central East and South Europe. From the Canadian International Development Agency: Hélène Corneau, Program Manager, Central and Eastern Europe Programme.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its examination of the situation in Kosovo. (See the Minutes of Proceedings of March 31, 1999, Meeting No. 99).
Jim Wright and Lt-Gen Raymond R. Henault each made an opening statement and, with Hélène Corneau, answered questions.
At 4:10 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
