Meeting No. 94

Wednesday, March 3, 1999

The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 3:39 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Vice-Chair, Colleen Beaumier, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Colleen Beaumier, John Cannis, Maud Debien, Bob Mills, Jerry Pickard, Julian Reed, Svend Robinson.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: James Lee; Gerald Schmitz, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the International Centre for Human Rights and Democratic Development: Kathleen Mahoney, Chair of the Board of Directors; Warren Allmand, President; Marie-France Clouthier, Comptroller; Iris Almeida, Director of Programs; Patricia Poirier, Communications Director.

Pursuant to Standing Order 110(1) and 111, the Committee proceeded to examine the Order in Council Appointment P.C. 1998-1998.

Kathleen Mahoney made an opening statements and answered questions.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to examine activities of the International Centre for Human Rights and Democratic Development.

Warren Allmand made an opening statement and, with Marie-France Clouthier, Iris Almeida and Patricia Poirier, answered questions.

At 5:14 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
