The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 3:31 p.m., this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, John Harvard, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Rick Borotsik, Murray Calder, John Harvard, Jake Hoeppner, Larry McCormick, Dick Proctor, Paul Steckle and Rose-Marie Ur.
Acting Member present: René Canuel for Hélène Alarie.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Researcher and Jean-Denis Fréchette, Economist.
Witnesses: From the Ontario Corn Producers' Association: Robert Down, President and Brian Doidge, Market Analyst. From the Ontario Soybean Growers' Marketing Board: Ron MacDougall, Director and Fred Brandenburg, Secretary-Manager. From the Ontario Wheat Producers' Marketing Board: Ken Nixon, Chair.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), and its Order of Reference dated October 27, 1998, Study of the upcoming crisis in farm incomes.
Ken Nixon, Ron MacDougall, Brian Doidge, Fred Brandenburg and Robert Down, made opening statements and answered questions.
At 5:27 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
