Introduction of Government Bills

April 22, 2009 — The Minister of Industry — Bill entitled “An Act to promote the efficiency and adaptability of the Canadian economy by regulating certain activities that discourage reliance on electronic means of carrying out commercial activities, and to amend the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission Act, the Competition Act, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and the Telecommunications Act”.
Recommendation
(Pursuant to Standing Order 79(2))
Her Excellency the Governor General recommends to the House of Commons the appropriation of public revenue under the circumstances, in the manner and for the purposes set out in a measure entitled “An Act to promote the efficiency and adaptability of the Canadian economy by regulating certain activities that discourage reliance on electronic means of carrying out commercial activities, and to amend the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission Act, the Competition Act, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and the Telecommunications Act”.

M-358 — April 22, 2009 — Ms. Crowder (Nanaimo—Cowichan) — That, in the opinion of the House, the government should commit to the original intent of Jordan's Principle, that the needs of a child come before any consideration over jurisdictional responsibility for provision of services to children living on reserve, and that First Nation children receive services on the same terms as other children.

M-294 — March 11, 2009 — Resuming consideration of the motion of Ms. Faille (Vaudreuil-Soulanges), seconded by Mr. Desnoyers (Rivière-des-Mille-Îles), — That, in the opinion of the House, the government should introduce in the House, no later than October 15, 2009, a bill to amend the Canada Labour Code to prohibit the use of replacement workers in labour disputes falling under the jurisdiction of the federal government while at the same time ensuring that essential services are maintained.
